Care Guide

Wipe clean with a slightly damp cloth — do not submerge or saturate. If the bag gets wet, reshape it and allow to dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can fade the natural dyes over time. Do not use chemical cleaners or conditioners on toquilla. Store in a dust bag if provided, or in a cool, dry place away from direct light.

Where is this made?

Every Orange Inca piece is designed in Australia and made in Peru — by cooperativas, family businesses, and small production centres that we know personally and return to. The makers are predominantly women. The processes are predominantly by hand.

What does "handmade" actually mean?

It means a person made it. Not a machine that requires a person nearby. The junco bags are woven row by row on simple frames. The frazadas are woven on traditional looms over days, sometimes weeks. The leather bags are stitched and finished by hand in a family workshop in Lima. Handmade at Orange Inca means the hands are genuinely involved — not as a marketing label but as the only way these things can be made.

Will my piece look exactly like the photo?

Toquilla palm fibre varies naturally in tone and texture. The dyeing process produces slight colour variation between pieces — two items of the same colourway may differ subtly. Minor differences in weave tension are part of the handwork. These variations are the hallmark of a piece made by hand, not by machine.

Will it last?

Toquilla is a fine palm fibre from the far north of Peru — lighter and more flexible than junco, but not as rigid. It is softer to the touch and more pliable, which gives our products a structured-yet-yielding character. The fibre holds its shape well with care and develops a gentle patina over time.

What's your returns policy?

Every piece is made by hand and checked before it leaves us. If something arrives faulty or isn't as described, contact us within 14 days at returns@orangeinca.com and we'll make it right — refund, exchange, or repair.

We don't offer change-of-mind returns or exchanges. With handmade goods, each piece is unique; once it's been made for you, it can't simply be put back. We'd rather help you choose right from the start — if you have questions about sizing, colour, or whether something will work for you, ask before you buy.

Yes. We ship worldwide from Sydney via Australia Post (standard) or DHL — you choose at checkout. Delivery times vary by destination.
