Our Sustainability Commitment
Our Sustainability Commitment
At Orange Inca, sustainability isn't a trend — it's woven into every thread of what we do. From the highlands of Peru to your home in Australia, every product we create reflects our deep respect for people, animals, and the planet.
🏅 Our Certifications
SGS Fair Trade Certified
Our baby alpaca wool is certified by SGS Fair Trade, one of the world's most trusted certification bodies. This means the artisans and farmers behind our products are paid fairly, work in safe conditions, and are empowered to build sustainable livelihoods.
Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS)
We are proud to source wool that meets the Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS) — a rigorous certification ensuring that alpacas are treated humanely, land is managed sustainably, and farming communities thrive. No mulesing. No cruelty. Just ethical, traceable fibre.
🌿 Our Sustainable Materials
Baby Alpaca Wool
Baby alpaca is one of nature's most luxurious and sustainable fibres. It is naturally hypoallergenic, incredibly soft, and requires far less water and land than conventional wool or synthetic alternatives. Alpacas have a gentle footprint on the earth — their padded feet don't damage soil, and they graze without uprooting grass.
Junco Reed
Our handwoven junco reed products are crafted from a natural, fast-growing aquatic plant harvested sustainably from Peruvian lakes. Unlike synthetic materials, junco is 100% biodegradable, requires no pesticides, and supports traditional weaving communities who have worked with this material for generations.
Sheep Wool
We use natural sheep wool sourced from small-scale Andean farmers who practice traditional, low-impact grazing. Our wool is minimally processed and free from harsh chemical treatments.
🎨 Eco-Friendly, Plant-Based Dyes
The vibrant colours in our products come from nature itself. We use plant-based, eco-friendly dyes derived from flowers, roots, and minerals — the same techniques used by Andean artisans for centuries. These dyes are free from toxic chemicals, safe for your skin, and kind to waterways.
🤲 Artisanal Craftsmanship
Every Orange Inca piece is handmade by skilled artisans in Peru. This traditional craftsmanship means:
- No mass-production machinery consuming large amounts of energy
- No factory waste or overproduction
- Each piece is unique, made to last, and built with intention
We believe in slow fashion — creating fewer, better things that stand the test of time.
✨ Perfect Imperfections
Our Perfect Imperfections philosophy celebrates the natural variations that come with handmade craftsmanship. Small differences in texture, colour, or weave are not flaws — they are the fingerprints of the artisan who made your piece. This authenticity is what makes each Orange Inca product truly one of a kind, and it's what makes them last a lifetime.
