Wrapped in Alpaca: My Go-To Winter Look in the Blue Mountains

Some days just stay with you. A crisp, clear morning in the Blue Mountains — wind on your cheeks, the crunch of grass underfoot, and that sense of quiet power that only winter light can bring.

On days like this, I want to feel wrapped, not weighed down. So I layered up — head to toe in alpaca. And I want to share with you why it’s my forever favourite for cold-weather dressing.

What I’m Wearing (and Why)

✔️ The coat: Made from alpaca wool, it’s warm without being heavy. Soft on the skin, structured on the outside — it moves beautifully, and it breathes.

✔️ The sweater, hat, wrap & mittens: All baby alpaca — so light, I sometimes forget I’m wearing them. Baby alpaca is naturally insulating, but never suffocating. No itch, no fuss. Just cloud-like warmth.

✔️ The bag: That’s our Luna clutch. It’s made from felted alpaca wool with a retro kiss-lock closure — practical, textural, and elegant without trying too hard.

Why I Always Reach for Alpaca

There’s something about alpaca that’s different from any other fibre I’ve worn. It’s not just warmer — it’s calmer. It doesn’t cling, or trap heat. It doesn’t irritate sensitive skin. It just works.

It’s also one of the most sustainable materials on the planet. No harm to the animals, no microplastics, and dyed with only what nature gives us — roots, flowers, bark, and minerals.

When I wear alpaca, I can move, explore, carry my day. It’s quiet luxury — natural fibres, made by hand, built to last. And even though I was layered in six pieces here, I never once felt restricted.
