A leather loop for the big toe, one wide band of naturally dyed sheep wool, and nothing to fasten. The pair you step into on the way out the door. Underneath, the sole carries the Inca wall of the Twelve-Angled Stone, in Cusco, where a family of shoemakers makes every pair.

Care Guide

These are summer sandals, not water shoes. Avoid soaking them; if they get wet, let them dry naturally, away from direct heat and sun.

Leather (footbed, lining, toe loop, back strap): care for it as you would any good leather. Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. When it looks dry or feels stiffer than usual, work in a little colourless leather conditioner and buff off the excess, keeping it off the wool.

Woven wool bands: spot clean only. Brush off dust; blot a mark with a cloth and cold water, with a little pH-neutral wool soap for a stubborn one. Never wash, soak or machine wash.

Rubber sole: sturdy and easy. Brush or wipe it clean.

Store in the calico bag they come in, in a cool, dry place. Never in plastic, which traps moisture.

Where is this made?

Every Orange Inca piece is designed in Australia and made in Peru — by cooperativas, family businesses, and small production centres that we know personally and return to. The makers are predominantly women. The processes are predominantly by hand.

What does "handmade" actually mean?

It means a person made it. Not a machine that requires a person nearby. The junco bags are woven row by row on simple frames. The frazadas are woven on traditional looms over days, sometimes weeks. The leather bags are stitched and finished by hand in a family workshop in Lima. Handmade at Orange Inca means the hands are genuinely involved — not as a marketing label but as the only way these things can be made.

Will my piece look exactly like the photo?

The bands are woven and naturally dyed, so stripe placement and tone vary slightly from pair to pair, and sometimes between the left and right sandal. The leather footbed darkens and softens with wear. These differences are the mark of a pair made by hand.

Will it last?

The leather footbed softens and takes the shape of your foot as you wear it. The woven wool bands are dense and hard-wearing, and the rubber sole grips and lasts. Kept dry, and stored in their calico bag between summers, a pair is made for many seasons.

What's your returns policy?

Every piece is made by hand and checked before it leaves us. If something arrives faulty or isn't as described, contact us within 14 days at returns@orangeinca.com and we'll make it right — refund, exchange, or repair.

We don't offer change-of-mind returns or exchanges. With handmade goods, each piece is unique; once it's been made for you, it can't simply be put back. We'd rather help you choose right from the start — if you have questions about sizing, colour, or whether something will work for you, ask before you buy.

EU customers: you have a 14-day cooling-off period in line with consumer protection regulations.

Yes. We ship worldwide from Sydney via Australia Post (standard) or DHL — you choose at checkout. Delivery times vary by destination.
